New Deploy: Todos Fixed

Much to the joy of Productivity Lovers among our userbase is the recent (what, 10 minutes ago?) fix of the todo list feature. Now it doesn’t throw an ugly error! Wherever you are, get up and shout for joy… everyone will understand.

For the CalendarHub history buffs, i.e. those that have been following us for a while, the todo list capability was actually constructed sometime back in February of 2006, but did not make it into production until last April 07 along with the Natural Language Parser. Why? Well, I can’t say exactly why, maybe just chalk it up as extreme oversight or something. We’ll do better with future features. Cross our hearts.

Todos can be attached to events, or not. See the ‘Todos’ tab on the event popup. Its cool because if you’re creating events as milestones or just wanting to keep track of todos for events (ex: Event: Johnny’s Birthday; Todo: ‘Pick up candles for the cake’), its an easy mental association because it provides good context… which means tasks are likely easier to digest and much more fun to track. Well, thats the way my saturated brain works anyhow. You can see all your todos (and associated event, if any) on the ‘Todos’ view, as opposed to Day | Week | Month | Year | List.

Enjoy, but be very kind to your todos. We will continue working and make the interface a bit prettier for them, so they’ll feel right at home.

Badge Updated; New Options Added, More Coming:

Due to recent customer requests, we have added a few parameter options to the embeddable CalendarHub Event Badge. If you’re not familiar with the badge, it’s a little chunk of Javascript code and CSS that you can drop in your website or blog to display your upcoming events (those that are marked public) from a given calendar. See an example of its usage here.

New to the badge is the ability to display descriptions inline with the event title, along with settings for number of days in the future from which you wish to fetch events and max events to display. Not groundbreaking by any means, but worth noting if you are considering or already using the badge.

More near-term updates for the badge are being considered. Suggestions are welcome through the feedback system or here in the comments.

Published Calendars

One of our favorite features is the ability to publish your calendar to a public web page.

Just click ‘Publish’ from the Calendar page and then enter a Published Name for your calendar and click ‘Publish’.

Your published calendar can be viewed at the new url, like:

http://www.calendarhub.com/pub/scott

Only events that are marked as Public will be shown on your published calendar.

Published calendars are being used by everyone from Congressional Candidates to Dance Clubs to anyone who wants to share their calendar with the world.
